Eight inductees were honored.  Robert "Bobby" Boyd (post humously. Mrs.Nancy Boyd, his wife received his award, Art Dietrich, Patricia "Pat" Flanagan, Robert Earl Radford, Eugene Robertson, Michael Snipes, Elana Meyers Taylor, and Jerome Thomas all received their Hall of Fame plaques from Chairman and Master of Ceremonies Al Johnson.
More than thirty Hall of Famers were in attendance to enjoy the festivities and dinner and also to renew friendships and socialize with old friends. The current class of inductees were well represented with many family and friends coming from all over the country. Two High School Players of the Year were recognized as well.  The 2015 Player of the Year- Ms. Nicole Stockinger from Sherwood High School and 2016 Player of The Year- Ms. Madison Aughinbaugh from Saint Mary's Ryken High School were honored.

Hall of Famer John R. "Jack" Mowatt Jr. (1992), Maryland-Delaware-District of Columbia ASA Commissioner, announces his retirement after 34 years of service effective, December 31, 2016.

During his tenure Jack has had a positive impact on many great softball players, coaches, umpires, and parents. One of his proudest moments was when he was instrumental in hosting the USA Softball team as they prepared for the Olympic Games in Bejing, China.  That event drew over 8,000 softball fans and was the highlight of area softball as the players signed autographs and provided photo opportunities for many fans.

The National Office has appointed Jack Hutcherson as his replacement.  Jack Hutcherson has served as Junior Olympic Commissioner for the past 10 years and has been a leader within the youth program in the Maryland, DC, and Delaware areas.

Best wishes to both in their future endeavors.

 USA VS Maryland All-Stars

The USA National Women's Team VS The Maryland All-Stars event at Regency Furniture (Blue Crabs) Stadium on Thursday, June 18th was played after a horrific rainstorm   The deluge occurred just before game time causing delays.  The staff of the stadium did a magnificent job in preparing the field and the games were played after only a 1/2 hour delay. The 4400 seat stadium was only half filled as the rainstorm kept many fans away.  The Hall of Fame Commission was well represented at the event and many Hall of Famers were present. The USA fielded a strong team and won both ends of the doubleheader however the Maryland All-Stars were very competitive this year and scored in both games.

DCASA Commissioner Jack Mowatt showcased the best softball players in the USA and Maryland for area fans, by sponsoring this big time softball event.

The USA and All-Star players, were very accommodating and stayed past midnight signing autographs for excited and adoring fans.

We hope that the USA National team will continue to visit our area in the future so that local softball fans can enjoy this top flight fast pitch entertainment.
